Nerja – Costa Del Sol

Transfer Time – 50 minutes

Best For – Families and couples wanting a traditional resort and beautiful scenery

Nerja is a wonderful resort in the Costa Del Sol, with stunning views and amazing mountain backdrops. Set on the eastern tip of the Costa Del Sol, the resort has some of the best beaches in the region and people come to sit and watch the world go by, as it is just so scenic.  Once a working fishing village is now a charming resort with many wonderful attractions and some of Spain’s best value accommodations.

There is two main beaches in this resort, the main beach, backed by a wonderful promenade with shops, bars and cafes, is a gorgeous sandy beach, which shelves gently into crystal blue waters, uncrowded even during high season.  With plenty sun loungers and parasols for hire and for those with plenty energy, there is a fabulous water sports centre with many activities to keep you entertained. The dive centre is based nearby too, and offers tuition for adults and children alike.  For those wanting to relax with a good book, there is another beach where it is tranquil and beautiful.

Nerja’s nightlife is fairly laid back, with a small selection of bars and cafes, some offering evening entertainment and all welcome children.  Larger resorts such as Torremolinos and Fuengirola are not too far in a taxi, should you want a livelier nightlife or a change of scenery.  There is plenty cafes, restaurants, especially fish restaurants with food caught fresh that day, where you can sit and enjoy your meal, eat al fresco and watch the world go by.  There is a good selection of shops and souvenir stalls that stay open til late everyday too.

Nerja is really popular with walkers and beach lovers, and it has enough of both to keep you satisfied, however history buffs will love the historical caves nearby, with paintings over 20.000 years old, and ruins and historical buildings to explore.  Boat trips are also available from Nerja and are a great way to explore nearby resorts and see the stunning coast too. There is also tropical garden centre with amazing flora and forna, well worth a visit whilst you holiday here.  And also a bit further afield is Madrid and Gibraltar, with many amazing sights and sounds to experience. A wonderful destination for exploring and relaxing, Nerja has it all.
