Marbella is a fabulous mix of traditional and modern buildings, mostly located along the coast, and with over 24 beaches and private coves, its no wonder Marbella is a sun worshippers paradise. There are man made beaches, blue flag beaches, rocky coves perfect for snorkelling and diving and long expanses of soft golden sand too. Many of the main beaches offer sun loungers and parasols for hire and all have access to cafes and restaurants for a break from the midday sunshine. For those with energy, there’s a good selection of water sports, including motor boats, jet skis and para gliding, and there’s even boat hire from the marina too.
Evenings are when Marbella comes into its own, with lots of wine bars, bars, cocktail bars and nightclubs, all offering something different. You are bound to enjoy the international DJ’s too, kicking out the top sounds of the moment and the marina is extremely popular to sit out and sip cocktails, whilst watching the world go by. The choice of places to wine and dine are immense, everything from cafes and tapas to Michelin star restaurants, a very international theme as well as traditional menus are on offer. Fish restaurants are particularly popular, with people travelling from miles around to try them. Casinos and night horse racing are fun at night too in Marbella.
To be honest, Marbella has everything you could wish for including access to over 40 championships golf courses, many of which offer tuition to complete beginners. Another popular pastime is scuba diving, a great experience and very inexpensive in Marbella too. Culture vultures will love the old town, with its winding cobbled streets, historical architecture and Moorish castle and of course Madrid is not a million miles away either, which has a much more in the history tours. Gibraltar is a wonderful day out, see the local history and the all famous Barbary apes, fun and informative!!
