Fuengirola – Costa Del Sol

Best for – Family holidays in the sun

Fuengirola is a wonderful resort located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, it is a popular destination with British holiday makers looking for sun, sea and lots of sand.  The resort has a great mix of accommodation, mainly located overlooking the sea, and the views from your balcony are usually stunning.  A great mixture of resort amenities makes this a great all round destination, regardless of you age, taste or budget.

Fuengirola has miles upon miles of wonderful sandy beaches.  The two main beaches in the resort are blue flag awarded beaches and offer soft golden sand, gently shelving into crystal blue waters, perfect for families with children who want somewhere safe for a paddle and to make sandcastles.  There are many sun loungers and parasols for hire and a good choice of places to wine and dine or escape the midday heat.  For those with lots of energy, there is plenty watersports, including speed boats, jet skis, water skiing and pedallos etc.  Fuengirola has a fantastic marina too, perfect for sipping a cool drink and watching the world go by.

Fuengirola at night tends to be more laid back then its neighbours of Torremolinos and Benalmadena, although there is an excellent choice of places to enjoy a freshly cooked meal, fish restaurants are very popular here, and there are a few international restaurants serving, Italian, Indian and Chinese to name but a few.  There is a nice selection of cafes, bars and cocktail bars offering a relaxed atmosphere, some putting on evening entertainment, all family friendly too. There are a couple of lively nightclubs to, if you so desire. A must whilst you’re here is a night time trip to the bullring, a short drive from Fuengirola, great fun for all the family.

Fuengirola has some great activities nearby, Golfing is a popular day out, with a couple of championship courses to hand, or maybe scuba diving, there is some amazing spots for diving on the Costa Del Sol.  Fuengirola has its very own zoo too, a firm favourite for all the family.  Another popular day out is the water park, only a short drive from the town centre. For those wanting a bit of culture and to see Spain in its real form, you should head to Madrid or Gibraltar, where you can explore the historical architecture and winding cobbled streets, not to mention the famous apes in Gib too.  There is so much to see and do around these parts, you will wonder how you are going to fit it all in!!
