Best For – Families and couples wanting a traditional resort on this wonderful Spanish coast

Pineda de Mar is definitely the most upmarket resort along this stretch of coastline, with wonderful beaches and stunning hilly backdrops, makes this a wonderful places for walkers, beach lovers and foodies too. This generally quiet, laid back resort is very well situated on a short bus ride from more major resort like Lloret and only 50kilometres from the fabulous city of Barcelona.

Pineda has miles of wonderful golden sand, which gently shelves into crystal blue waters, shallow and calm, makes a perfect area for children to play and swimmers to swim. The beach has lots of sun loungers and parasols to hire and the beach is so wide, it doesn’t feel crowded, even during high season. For those who want a little more, there is an excellent water sports centre with jet skis, para gliding, water skiing and pedallos etc., and there is a fantastic dive centre, offering tuition for adults and children and boat trips to explore this amazing seabed and rocky coves. For those wanting total relaxation, slightly further around the coat is some gorgeous little coves offering peace and tranquillity and all beaches have easy access to bars, cafés and restaurants for that all important cool drink and a spot of lunch.

Golfers will be spoilt for choice here in Pineda, with 4 championship golf courses nearby and tuition and admission for beginners too. Horse riding is popular, especially with the stunning scenery and beach rides on offer. And be sure to hire a bike, a perfect way of getting in and out of the neighbouring resorts.

Night times in Pineda offer something for everyone, with plenty family orientated bars, cocktail bars and cafés offering happy hours and some putting on evening entertainments, i.e. quizzes, karaoke and bingo. There’s also a livelier atmosphere down near the beach, the promenade there comes alive with live music and bands. And you can always take a bus into Lloret for much livelier night-life. Eating out in Pineda is wonderful, there are some lovely open-air restaurants, just perfect for a romantic meal, or just sitting watching the world go by. Pineda has many traditional restaurants and a good selection of international menus, i.e. Chinese, Italian and Indian to name but a few.

Families should try a day out at Water World, Europe’s largest water park or maybe a day at Marineland, enjoying the dolphin and sea lion shows, or Gnomeland for the really small kiddies. For the culture vultures, Barcelona is a must, with many historical Gothic buildings and medieval architecture and of course there is the famous Camp Nou, football stadium, only a short train ride from Pineda De Mar.
