Tavira – Algarve

Tavira – Algarve

Transfer Time – 50 minutes

Tavira is one of the most unique and traditional resorts on the Algarve, still very much a working fishing village, steeped in history. It has charm and elegance and has still to bit hit by tourism so it keeps much of its character too. Visitors will enjoy the old town and its historical buildings, winding streets and oldie world feeling, along with the laid back relaxation that a normal beach holiday brings.

Tavira is a great place for a family holiday and you can rest assured that the beach in Tavira is one of the cleanest and safest beaches in this area, with continuous blue flag awards. The beach is wide and uncrowded; with plenty sun beds and parasols, soft golden sand and safe shallow waters, perfect for a paddle. Water sports are available too, with things such as pedaloes, jet skis and waterskiing, to name but a few. Snorkelling and diving is popular too, with crystal clear waters giving you perfect conditions.

Nightlife in Tavira is fairly laid back although there is more than enough to keep you occupied. Wander into the old town and enjoy a leisurley meal in one of the local cafes and restaurants or head into the village and eat at one of the more international restaurants. You can enjoy a drink in the cafes and bars in this area, however, don’t expect anything rowdy, its much laid back and family friendly.

Tavira is one of the more serene and relaxing resorts in the Algarve, with access to busier areas should the need arise. Golfers have access to over 6 championship golf courses with in a short drive, and family wont have to travel far to get to a water park or maybe Zoo Marine, where you can play all day or enjoy the various dolphin shows. Boat trips are another great way of exploring this beautiful region and are a cheap and fun way to explore unreachable coastline.

The history is breathtaking in this area, with buildings dating back to 1000BC and many building with their own stories to tell, Tavira is a wonderful area to enjoy a real cultural experience.
