Albufeira is one of the Algarve’s largest resorts, a bustling town with charm and character.  With two main areas, the old town with its winding streets and cobbled roads, and The Strip with masses of bars, cafes, restaurants and even a few discos.  The hot summers and mild winters make The Algarve a great all year round destination and with a 3 hour flight from the UK you can be there before you know it.

With no less the 20 beaches in the resort of Albufeira you will never be short of somewhere to chill out through the day.  Many of the beaches link you to other resorts such as Praia de Oura, Olhos d’Agua and Sao Joao to name a few.  The main beach in Albufeira is a blue flag awarded beach, with perfect golden sand, gently shelving into crystal clear waters, a perfect location for children to play.  Diving and snorkelling are popular around these parts too, due to the clear waters and warm conditions.  The various beaches have many, many water sports available too, including Para gliding, pedal boats, jet skis and many more.  There are some beautiful private coves too, if all you want is a sun lounger and a good book. Total paradise!!

Evenings in Albufeira are varied, many lively bars and cafes, especially along The Strip and lots of choice of places to eat out, there’s restaurants on every street as well as take aways and fast food venues.  The nightlife is lively although families and children are always welcome.  For a more traditional night out, head into the beautiful old town, with winding streets, quality restaurants and more up market bars, cafes and wine bars. Wander along the cobbled streets, watching mime artists and musicians play or simply sit back in one of the wonderful open air cafes, sip a cool drink and watch the world go by.  Shopping is a popular past time on an evening, once the temperatures have cooled slightly, and most of the shops, boutiques and souvenir stalls are open until late.

Albufeira is perfectly located to get out and see this wonderful country, and there are many wonderful attractions not too far away.  Try a day on the golf courses, with 3 championship courses nearby, you can enjoy the sun and improve your handicap.  There is a wonderful water park a short drive from Albufeira too, with many flumes and chutes to entertain all.  The Marine Park proves to be another popular day out, watching the dolphin and sea lion shows, fun for all the family. History is plentiful too, with many ancient ruins, castles and museums to keep those culture vultures at bay. So much to do, and stunning scenery, what’s not to like??
