Riva – Lake Garda

Transfer time – Verona 2 Hours

Riva is the most Northern of Lake Garda’s stunning resorts; it has many fine buildings, especially around the Piazza Tre Novembre. There is a fabulous 12th century castle which dominates the waterfront and there are many intricate churches and architecture which is always a delight to stumble upon whilst wandering around the small cobbled streets of the old town.

Riva has one of the best beaches around Lake Garda, although pebbly, it is stunning, the water is crystal clear and there are many varieties of water sports on offer. For the energetic, you can even pair up a day biking with windsurfing or a day sailing with hiking, there’s so much on offer. Scuba diving is excellent around here to, with the water being so clear and so many amazing dive sights, it’s getting evermore popular with experienced divers.

Nightlife in Riva usually consists of a glass of Prosecco and a relaxing chair in one of the many cafes and restaurants on the harbour, kicking back and watching the world go by. Aperitifs’ of the locally produced Limón cello before sampling a delicious Italian meal in one of the local restaurants. Fresh fish is very popular here, with locally caught fish always on the menu. Those who wish to party into the small hours wont be disappointed as the old village has plenty of lively bars and even a couple of nightclubs where you can dance until dawn.

Apart from the many water based activities here in Riva, you can take some amazing walks, suitable for a level of walker, whether you wish to hike up to the Chapel of St Barbara or take a more leisurely stroll along the Sarca River and enjoying an Italian ice-cream, Riva has something to suit everyone. If walking is not your thing, maybe a spa day in one of the hotels is more to your liking, being pampered and beautified.

Many excursions are available too, with half day wine tours, boat trips around the lake or maybe a full day seeing the wonderful Dolomites. Most people enjoy the trips into Venice to see St Marks Square or maybe a trip into Verona to experience the Opera or Roman Arena, there really is something for everyone, young or old, Riva and Lake Garda has it all.
