Sirmione is one of the most spectacular resorts on Lake Garda, set on a peninsular jutting out on the southern coast, it offer spectacular scenery, historical sights, and is renowned as one of the best spa resorts in Europe.

Let us start by telling you about the local culture. There are many buildings dating back as far as Roman times, in particular, as must see is the Scaligero Castle which has a tower where you can see views of the whole area and entrance to the old town is via the castles bridge. There is also an amazing archaeological site, the Grotte di Catullo which has been excavated and has a very interesting tale to tell.

If history is not your thing, then don’t despair, another reason people visit Sirmione is the wonderful natural spas which have been bubbling since 1889. The wonderfully warm waters are said to have amazing healing properties and are a wonderful place to relax and wind down. Why not think about booking yourself into the Aquaria Spa, with spectacular views over the lake and there are many spa treatments available.

When you are through relaxing, visitors can find a wealth of entertainment in the village centre, explore the winding streets, and enjoy the many cafes and gelaterie. There are plenty of shops and boutiques too. The warm summer evenings are often spent around the harbour, enjoying a meal in one of the many restaurants or having the typical Italian aperitif before retiring to one of the hotel bars for a nightcap.

Sirmione is perfectly located to visit other areas in Italy. Only 40 minutes by car from Verona opens you up to so many activities, maybe taking in an Opera or enjoying the Roman Arena or browsing the hundreds of amazing Italian boutiques. Venice is not a million miles away either, enjoy a day trip and take in a gondola ride or a visit to the famous St Marks Square. Or if you can’t drag yourself away from this little piece of Italian heaven, why not hop on a local ferry and take a trip on the Lake, with so many varied and beautiful resort to visit, there’s enough to entertain everyone.

Sirmione is a fairytale resort, with a fairytale castle and a popular resort for general wellbeing and stunning scenery, really….what more do you need??
