Lake Garda – Italian Lakes and Mountains

Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and over 12 resorts share the mountain backdrops and stunning views around this region. Located half way between Brescia and Verona and within easy reach of Venice and Milan makes it a perfect location to see Italy and enjoy the stunning summer weather and clean fresh mountain air.

The lake itself is 51 kilometres long and only 17 kilometres wide at its widest point in the south. Lake Garda is renowned for its crystal clear water, perfect for swimming in summer and a great place to enjoy water sports such as windsurfing and sailing. And the mountain backdrop is just perfect for walking and hiking or mountain biking, with many lifts taking you up high and forestry walks where you can experience the local wildlife and stunning flora and fauna.

The lake serves numerous villages, all offering something different, from bustling commercial centres like Riva and Pescharia to quieter and secluded regions such as Torre Del Benaco or Torbole. Many tourists use Lake Garda as a base to explore Italy, as we said before it is situated near to Verona, home to Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet, you can visit the 2000 year old Roman Arena or take in some of Italy’s amazing shopping centres. Venice is not too far away, with canals and St Marks square visit the Basilica or the Rialto and enjoy a meal in one of Italy’s best regions.
