Desenzano is a stunning resort located at the southern end of Lake Garda, still unspoilt by tourists and a popular weekend retreat for Italians. Even the rich and famous from Milan head here to enjoy the chic nightlife and award winning restaurants. Fresh fish are brought in daily and the choice is massive, it’s lovely to watch the fisherman at work on the harbour and their catch is served up daily in the many seafood restaurants in this town.

Desenzano has two wonderful beaches where you can soak up the Italian sunshine with a good selection of water sports on offer and the beaches are uncrowded so you won’t struggle for a sun bed. The beach is backed by a wonderful traffic free promenade where you can wander though the shops or stop for an ice cream of a refreshing drink; sitting and watching the world go by. If you wish to explore other resorts and villages on the lake, there is an excellent train service, or you can easily hop on a ferry or hydrofoil.

Desenzano has a wonderful nightlife, and is a popular favourite for the Italians, especially at weekends. The town centre if full of winding streets with bars and restaurants ranging from cheap and cheerful pizzerias to fantastic gourmet restaurants. Head up to the Piazza Malvezzi for an after dinner drink and catch the live music and street entertainers, its just magical. If you prefer a more laid back atmosphere, the harbour and promenade have some lovely smaller places where you can relax and enjoy a quieter meals and drink.

Desenzano is a perfectly placed resort for getting our and about in this part if Italy, there are many wonderful walks and bike rides around the village, as well as some wonderful historical sights to visit. Garda Land theme park and Caneva World Water Park are funs days out for the children. Day trips are available to Verona, where you can explore the amazing Roman Arena, take in The Italian Opera or browse the fabulous shops and boutiques. Or maybe a day trip to Venice, where you can enjoy a gondola ride or visit St Marks Square, the choices are endless.
