Transfer Time – 1 hour 15 minutes

Best for – Families and couples wanting a picturesque resort and excellent beaches.

Alikes is a beautiful resort located on the north east of the island, it is a simple resort offering a charming, peaceful and traditional ambience and is a family friendly resort with a good mixture of accommodation standards to suit all taste and budgets. Visit the famous salt lakes which is where Alikes gets its name, the surrounding countryside is breathtaking, perfect for a short stroll and backed by stunning pine clad hills, makes this a perfect destination for walkers or the more energetic.

The days in Alikes are often spent sipping a cool drink in the shade of one of the many beach front cafés and tavernas or spent lazing the day away around the pools or beach. The beach is stunning, soft golden sand, gently shelving into shallow, crystal blue waters of the Ionian Sea. A safe, perfect place for little ones or for those who maybe want to snorkel or scuba dive. The more energetic have plenty to keep them entertained, there is a huge water sports centre offering many types of entertainment, jet skis, water skiing, para gliding, canoes, pedallos and bananas and ringos, to name but a few. You can take a stroll along to Alykanas, a neighbouring resort approximately 1 kilometres away too, which also has more shops, cafés, tavernas and a fantastic beach with water sports too.

Nights in Alikes are relaxed and laid back, enjoy a meal in one of the many cafés and restaurants all offering a great range of food, international restaurants like Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Indian are also available. The favourite has to be the traditional Greek taverna, offering local produce, carefully prepared and often served whilst a floor show takes place, traditional Greek dancing and plate smashing, great entertainment for all the family. The evenings then usually spill into the local bars and pubs, again some offering entertainment of spent chatting with the locals and other holiday makers. The general ambiance is slow and relaxed and perfect end to a relaxing day. Alykanas has a couple of discos should you wish to dance til the early hours.

Alikes is a perfect base from which to explore the island of Zakynthos, and the local buses and car hire are very reasonable and run to neighbouring resorts and the islands capital Zakynthos Town, with its many shops, markets and boutiques. There is also many historical sights here and plenty places to wine and dine too. Take a boat trip around this beautiful island, take in the shipwreck of Smugglers Cove, the Blue caves and some fabulous diving locations, whilst watching for local loggerhead turtles and dolphins too. The beach lovers will enjoy experiencing some of Greece’s fabulous beaches, located all around the island and all offering various attractions. Alykes is near to water parks, and is particularly popular for cycling, being flat, beautiful and with plenty places to stop off for that cool drinking the shade, a great holiday destination and lovely to see Greece at its best.
