Troulos – Skiathos

Best For – families and couples looking for a traditional village with a mixture of night-life and activities.

Troulos is Skiathos’ second largest village but although there is a varied night-life and a good selection of bars, it is still an area suited to families and those wanting to relax and chill out. Situated on the southern most part of the island, it is in a secluded location making it perfect for relaxation and a slower pace of life. Still only 10 kilometres from Skiathos Town, you can get out and about easily enough.

The beach is Troulos has been awarded the blue flag and has to be one of the best on the island. The beach itself is a lovely stretch of soft golden sand which gently shelves into the crystal clear waters, perfect for little ones. There is a massive selection of water sports on offer too, with para gliding, water skiing and jet skiing to name but a few. There are a lovely selection of beach side cafés, restaurants for the Al Fresco way to dine and a perfect escape from that midday sun. Troulos has many smaller, private coves for those wanting complete peace and quiet during the day, all with in a 10-15 minute stroll from the main beach.

This lovely traditional village has an good selection of night-life, there is lively or quiet, which ever you are suited to. There are many places to wine and dine, from your typical Greek taverna, offering local cuisine, maybe a spot of Greek dancing and plate smashing all the way to exclusive restaurants and snack bars. The choice of food is massive, with Italian, Chinese and Indian and many others on offer too. The bars vary from place to place, there is cocktail bars, family bars and cafes all offering a variety of evening entertainment or a place to sit and watch the world go by. There really is such a variety to suit all tastes and budgets.

Excursions are plentiful from Troulos, many walkers love it, with a huge selection of gentle strolls through the headlands or amble along to Aselinos beach ( approx 50 minutes stroll) or you could always hire a car and go further afield if you can bare to leave this perfect piece of Greece. Skiathos Town has an excellent choice of activities, great shopping, monasteries and a harbour. For beach lovers, you should head to Koukounaries, where you have Greece’s best beach, Banana Beach, a totally tropical beach.

Skiathos is a beautiful jewel in Greece’s crown and we guarantee, once you have visited this lovely island, you are sure to return again and again.
