Skopelos (Via Skiathos) – Greece

Transfer Time – 50 minutes by boat transfer from Skiathos

Best For – Mamma Mia fan’s who want a traditional Greek holiday, beautiful scenery and fabulous beaches, perfect for families.

Where else in the world can you find lush green mountains, scattered with little picture perfect white churches and some of Greece’s best beaches. Well Skopelos really has it all, peace, tranquillity and just the best way to experience Greece and their lovely way of life. Skopleos was made famous for being the beautiful backdrop for the film Mamma Mia, lovely ports and winding cobbled streets and views which are simply breathtaking.

The port of Skopelos is one of the prettiest places, when you pull into port on arrival, the rows of white houses, red tiled roofs and the maze of cobbled streets just wind out before your eyes and leave you totally breathless. Once onshore you will find sophisticated shops and a good selection of bars and cafés, a great selection of restaurants and tavernas, all very family orientated and perfect to relax and watch the world go by.

On Skopelos alone, there are 125 pretty little churches and the ruins of a Venetian fortress and of course you can always head back to Skiathos and visit all the interesting historical sights there.

The beaches on Skopelos are beautiful, soft golden sands sloping gently into crystal clear waters, perfect fro families with younger children. Some of the beast beaches on Skopelos are Stafilos beach, reached by local bus and with a lovely cliff top taverna is just perfect to relax and chill out. Otherwise there is the tiny hamlet of Agnontas, a pretty port and a secluded beach called Limonari.

There is Skopelos Town too, with a good selection of shops, supermarkets and souvenir shops, and has a varied night-life, slightly livelier, with music bars and bars, and a lovely selection of restaurants and traditional tavernas.

What a lovely destination to experience Greece as it should be seen, an enchanting coastline and beautiful scenery, this island is a delightful destination, often revisited time and time again. All good things do come in small packages.
