Transfer Time – 25 Minutes

Best For – Those wishing to relax and wind down in a traditional Greek village

Kolios is located on the south of the island and is definitely one of the most scenic resorts too. Nestled into the countryside with beautiful pine trees and olive groves, lies this quaint little village, where they friendly locals take you under their wing and ensure your holiday is everything you have dreamed of and more.

The beach in Kolios is fabulous, a long stretch of soft golden sand, gently shelving into the cool, crystal clear waters, absolutely perfect for those with children. For those feeling more energetic, there is a small selection of water sports, however there is many little coves and nearby resorts where you can experience a larger choice should you wish. There is a handful of beach bars and cafés offering a nice selection of snacks and meals and a perfect place to get out of the midday sun.

The night-life in Kolios is very laid back and family orientated. There is the usual collection of bars, and cafés offering low key places to enjoy an evening drink or two. There is plenty places to wine and dine, very traditional in feel, tavernas offering local cuisine and the occasional evening entertainment of Greek dancing and plate smashing. The general rule of thumb for evenings is chatting over a lovely meal then meandering along to a bar or two for a quiet drink and a bit more chat.

Kolios is perfectly situated for exploring this perfect little island, there is plenty history and activities to see. A trip into Skiathos town offers a fish market, a monastery of Evangelista, many shops, boutiques and the usual souvenir shops. There are a selection of weekly markets around the island too. Getting around is very easy, the local buses are very reliable and local taxis are cheap too. Another popular way of getting round is boat trips, a perfect way to visit those beautiful unspoilt beaches and villages.

A must for all beach lovers is a visit to the world famous Banana Beach, just near to Koukounaries, this wide expanse of beautiful golden sand and sparkling crystal waters has been voted as Greece’s best beach and only a short ride from Kolios too.

Kolios is certainly proof that perfection comes in small packages.
