Achladies – Skiathos

Transfer Time – 20 minutes

Best For – Those seeking peace and quiet and a traditional village feel.

Achladies is a lovely relaxing village set on the east coast of the island, offering spectacular views and scenery. Achladies offers easy access into the islands capital, Skiathos Town and other neighbouring resorts so makes it a perfect place to see the local sights.

The beaches are superb in Achladies, a fabulous sandy bay, gently shelving into the turquoise sea, making it perfect for those with young children and non swimmers. There is a great selection of water sports on the main beach, jet skiing, para gliding and water skiing to name but a few. There are a few more coves just a short stroll from the main beach too for those wanting total peace and tranquillity.

Night-life in Achladies is quite laid back, the main night-life is in Skiathos town, a short water taxi ride away or 15 minutes in a taxi. But in Achladies itself, there is a small selection of bars and cafés where you can sit back and watch the world go by, many are open til late too. The dining experience in Achladies is very nice, there are many beautiful restaurants offering great food and the usual traditional tavernas too, offering typically Greek food, a bit of Greek dancing and the occasional plate smashing session. Again there is a bigger selection in Skiathos Town too, especially fresh fish restaurants which make Skiathos Town popular.

As already said, embark on a little water taxi and explore Skiathos Town, wander the cobbled streets, or the Monastery of Evangelistra, the old fishing port and the Monastery of Kouinistras. Or venture to the uninhabited island of Tsougria, perfect for diving and snorkelling. A must see is the fabulous beach, Banana beach in Koukounaries, a tropical paradise more like what you would expect in the Caribbean.

Scuba diving and snorkelling are popular in Skiathos or sailing too, with hire of caiques and boats trips in abundance. Shopping is another popular past time too, especially Italian designer clothes, local crafts and pottery.

There is some thing here for everyone, however on the quieter side in Achladies but still within a short distance to the livelier Skiathos Town….. Just perfect!!
