Samos Town – Samos

Transfer Time – 30 minutes

Best For – Couples and families who want a lively, yet still traditional resort and a fantastic beach.

Samos Town is the island’s capital, a wonderful resort situated on the north coast of the island and offering so many attractions, its no wonder that holiday makers have been returning here year after year. Traditionally a working harbour and a popular weekend hangout for the locals in the region too.

The beach in Samos Town is a fabulous sheltered, horse shoe bay, with soft golden sand, gently shelving into the crystal clear blues seas of the Aegean sea. Backed by beautiful rolling hills, lush green pine trees and with stunning views out to Turkey, only 2 kilometres away at its closest point. There is a small selection of water sports for the more energetic and include water skiing, paragliding, pedallos, ringos, bananas and snorkelling to name but a few. For those just wanting to lie back and enjoy the fabulous weather in Samos, there are plenty sun loungers and parasols for hire and the beach remains uncrowded, even during high season. For those wishing to escape the beach, the town has a lovely selection of cafés and tavernas lining the beach for a cool drink or snack, and wander through the cobbled side streets and explore the souvenir shops and boutiques. There are many historical sights worth a visit too.

Evenings are quite lively, however very family friendly. The main harbour is a beautiful place to spend your evenings, there are a lot of cafés, bars and places to dine out Al Fresco whilst sitting watching this bustling harbour life in action. The old town is a fantastic place to wander on an evening, with slightly quieter bars and cafés and a great selection of restaurants and tavernas on offer, experience lovely Greek hospitality at its best.

Samos Town is full of places to visit, the old town is steeped in history, Ano Vathy, an extremely attractive part of town with 19th century red tiled houses perched on the hillside, municipal gardens and Byzantine churches and museums. There are ruins such as Licourgo castle and the Eupalinos tunnel, all with guided tours available on request. For beach lovers, there is a fantastic beach with in 3 kilometres, Psilli Ammos, with fabulous shallow water and stunning location. There are many beautiful resorts around the island and boat trips are a fabulous way to get to them, and don’t forget you can also do day trips to Turkey too.

Samos Town really does have something for everyone, it is a stunning resort in a beautiful location and we guarantee, you will want to go again and again.
