Pefkohori – Halkidiki

Transfer time – 2 hours

Best For – Suitable for all, looking for a relaxing day and lively nights

Pefkohori is one of the prettiest resorts located on the southern most tip of the Kassandra peninsula, renowned for the friendly locals, a pretty village centre and stunning crystal clear waters. Pefkohori is really two villages in one, the beach front offering a more traditional ambience and the main strip offering a more cosmopolitan feel.

The days in Pefkohori are often spent wandering around the markets and shops of this pretty village, sipping cool drinks in one of the tavernas and café bars or spent lazing away of the miles of fabulous beach. The sand is soft, golden and gently shelving into clear, shallow waters, perfect for little ones to play in and lovely for a stroll along the beach. There are plenty of sun loungers and parasols for hire and there’s plenty space so its feel totally peaceful even during high season. The promenade on the sea front is full of bars and cafés offering a place to escape the midday sun and enjoy once of their many beautiful lunches.

Night-life in Pefkohori offers a wide and varied choice, as we said before, its really a game of two villages. Head towards the beach and you will experience quieter bars, pubs and cafés offering a lovely place to stop off, kiddie entertainment and all round family fun, or head to the village centre and you will find lively bars, cocktail bars, cafés and even a few discos, where you can dance til the early hours. The choices for food are huge, with a massive selection of cafes, snack bars, international restaurants and of course, the local tavernas, all loving preparing fresh fish, local produce and all washed down with a locally produced retsina. Many of the tavernas will put on a floor show and show you the Greek dancing and local traditional dances.

Pefkohori is heaven, however it would be a shame to stay put and not see some of this beautiful Greece. Thessaloniki is Greece’s second largest city and is well worth a visit, with many shops, boutiques , markets and historical sights, its stunning and cultural too. Mouth Athos, The ruins of Dion and the Royal Tombs of Vergina are other historical places worth a look at. Kassandra is really a beach lovers paradise, with superb beaches within a short bus ride, take a look at Sani or Hanioti for some tropical beach fronts or Kriopigi beach for a total getaway. There are many other activities to keep you entertained, scuba diving, horse riding, scenic walks, water sports and bird watching, the choice is endless, its no wonder people return to this wonderful part of Greece over and over again.
