Kiotari – Rhodes

Transfer Time – 1 hour 45 minutes

Best For – Relaxing and chilling out, good for families and couples

Kiotari is a purpose built resort that oozes style and some of the best hotels on the island. This area is very popular for families and couples looking for an all inclusive holiday. This is also a perfect location for peace and quiet and enjoying the luxury that the resort and hotels offer. There are a handful of luxury villas too.

The beach in Kiotari is a fabulous sandy beach, that gently shelves into the sea and the shallow waters make it perfect for families with young kiddies. There is a small number of water sports but there are many major resorts like Faliraki, Lindos and Pefkos which have a much better choice and are only a short bus ride away. Kiotari is the most southern of the tourist resorts located on the east coast, and this is where the best beaches are located. There are plenty of shops, souvenir stalls and a selection of supermarkets in the resort too and Lindos is a short taxi ride from Kiotari, where, again there is a much larger selection.

Nights in Kiotari are definitely relaxed and laid back, there are a few bars, cocktail bars and pubs but as many of the hotels are on an all inclusive basis, you don’t find that the bars are crowded, even during high season. There are a good selection of restaurants and tavernas, offering local Greek produce, lovingly served up, many of the tavernas do “a Greek Night” which consists of fine food, plenty retsina or ouzo and some Greek dancing and plate smashing. Lindos and Pefkos are two very beautiful resorts nearby and have a busier night-life, definitely worth a visit.

Kiotari is a perfect base from which to explore this beautiful sunny island. Take a trip north to Rhodes town and visit many ruins and relics from as early as 500BC and enjoy wandering around the old town, with its cobbled streets, many outside cafés and tavernas and the massive choice of shops, boutiques and slovenlier stalls. Lindos is worth a look too, with the Acropolis and one of the most stunning resort on the island. There are water parks for the more energetic and Thermal Spa’s in Kallithea for the less energetic. Hiring a car is a great way to see Rhodes and visiting the smaller towns and villages are a lovely experience too, the locals are so friendly and will bend over backwards to see if they can make you stay perfect.

A perfect choice for a sunny, summer holiday, Kiotari has lots to offer without being spoilt by tourism.
