Ixia is a beautiful modern but traditional resort situated only 2 kilometres fro the island capital of Rhodes Town, backed by rolling hills and beautiful, fragrant flora and forna, Ixia really is a gem in Rhodes’ crown. Ixia is the one place in Rhodes where you can see the magnificent coastline of Turkey. Popular with all walks of life, taste and budgets, with some pretty little small pension hotels right up to stunning, luxurious 5* properties. Ixia really has everything you could need.

The beach in Ixia is a wide sweeping bay of soft golden sand, gently shelving into the shallow, crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean, perfect for little ones to play on and safe for non swimmers too. There are many smaller coves for more privacy and all within a short walk from the main beach too. For those feeling more energetic, Ixia has a massive selection of water sports available on the main beach, anything from pedallos, ringos, banana, jet skis, water skiing, all the way through to paragliding and scuba diving. Nearby Trianda also has a great choice of activities too, so you will never be bored and have plenty to watch.

The night life in Ixia is fairly busy, however very family friendly, there is a great selection of cafés, bars, cocktail bars and even a handful of discos should you wish to dance til dawn, and don’t forget that Ixia is a mere 2 kilometres from Rhodes Town which is extremely cosmopolitan and very lively. The choice of places to eat out is vast, everything from your snack bars, beach front al fresco cafés, through to a la carte restaurants and international restaurants too, Indian, Chinese, Italian etc. of course you must try one of the many traditional Greek tavernas selling local produce, try a spot of Greek dancing and of course the traditional plate smashing.

Ixia is a perfect base from which to explore Rhodes, only 2 kilometres from Rhodes town which is steeped in history, has many shops, boutiques and souvenir shops and a beautiful harbour. There is a short drive to a waterpark, perfect for families. There is Thermal spas in Kallithea and many fabulous resort and beaches within a short local bus ride or taxi. Car hire is very reasonable too, so there is no reason for no seeing parts of this amazing island.

Rhodes is said to be blessed by the Sun God, Helios, making it one of the best destination, offering hot sunny days for virtually all the summer season. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
