Best For – Appeals to young people, lively families and couples wanting a lively holiday

Believe it or not, Kardamena was once a sleepy little fishing village, now it’s the busiest resort on the whole island. An international resort which appeals to all nationalities and all walks of life. Renound for its lively atmosphere and fabulous beach, people have been coming here year after year.

The days in Kardamena can be as busy or as relaxed as you wish, but the order of the day is spent on Kardamena’s fantastic 3 kilometres beach. A hit with everyone, beautiful golden sands, gently shelving into the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean, perfect for little ones or non swimmers. |There are hundreds of sun loungers and parasols and even in high season, does not feel overcrowded. For the more energetic, there is a vast selection of water sports, ranging from the gentler pedaloes, canoes and diving to the outrageous water skiing, para gliding and ringo’s. There is an excellent selection of beach front cafés and tavernas for you to have lunch and escape the midday sun.

The evenings are really when this town comes alive, there is a massive choice of evening entertainment to be had, there is cocktail bars, pubs, cafés and family pubs all offering something different and there are many sound proofed night clubs too. The main square is where all the young ones head but there are lots of lovely side street bars where you can actually sit and chat and relax. The choice of food places in Kardemena are endless, from basic fast food places up to your 5 star restaurants, there is again something to cater for all. Being an international resort, there is Indian, Chinese, Italian and many other nationality restaurants too. For more authentic Greek food, look out for the traditional Greek tavernas where you can enjoy local produce, fresh fish and meat and of course the Greek dancing and plate smashing.

Kos is such a large island, there are so many activities to be had away from Kardamena, boats trips to Rhodes, Turkey or just around the island. Water parks for the families and young and young at heart. There are amazing beaches scattered around the island for the sun worshippers and of course a mass of historical sights including the famous Hippo-crates plane tree and the Castle of the Knights of St. John built during the 14th century. Maybe you want to head somewhere to relax, how about the hydrotherapy pools at Thermes only 12 kilometres from Kos Town. Most major resorts have an excellent selection of shops and boutiques selling gold, silver and local craft-ware and of course your normal souvenir shops.

Kardamena is a beautiful scenic resort with so many choices to suit every budget and all tastes. A perfect all round destination.
