Argolstoli is better known as this islands capital. Situated on a peninsular, Argostoli is a busy working harbour where ferries, yachts and fishermen work on a daily basis and a perfect location to sit back, enjoying a cool drink in the sun and watch the world work as you relax. Although a capital town, it still retains much of its traditional atmosphere, with friendly locals bending over backwards to ensure you have a wonderful holiday.

There is no beach as such in Argostoli, although a ten minute water taxi across the bay will take you to beautiful Lassi with its excellent choice of 5 stunning beaches to pick from. The main beach being particularly poplar with families, due to its soft golden sand, gently shelving into the shallow, crystal blue waters of the sea. There are numerous water sports on offer too, ranging from pedalloes to para gliding and of course diving is fantastic here. There are plenty sun loungers and parasols for hire and a great selection of beach front cafés and Greek tavernas offering a tempting escape from the midday sun.

Evenings in Argostoli, as with many waterfront towns offer a hive of activities. All along the harbour front, there are choices of bars, cafés and tavernas all lovingly preparing local produce and a favourite is the fresh fish, often brought in on a boat that day. Argostoli has an excellent choice of shops, souvenir shops and supermarkets and boutiques all offering beautiful local craft ware and bargains. The streets are full of cafés and bars and winding cobbled lanes where you can mix with the locals and shop until the early hours. There is a local market weekly too.

Kefalonia has many beautiful resorts and often boat trips are the best way to get around, visit the stalactites at the Dragarati Caves are stunning and you can take in the underground lake at Melissani can be seen in the same trip. Beach lovers must take a trip to Myrtos, a picture perfect beach with silvery sand and stunning surrounding scenery. And of course Antisamos is a must, the famous beach from the film, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Historical sights are on offer too, Abbey of St Gersimos, a famous Monks island.

This resort has many beautiful accommodation in and around the harbour, and of course many holiday makers love it due to its close proximity to Lassi, virtually 2 resorts for the price of one.
