Families return year after year to Crete, Greece’s most southerly Island, offering long sunny days and some of Europe’s most beautiful gently shelving beaches.  There is a variety of resorts for those families wanting a quiet chilled out break and more lively resorts for those with teenagers who want to shop and experience a bit of night-life.  You can find resort that combine both too.  There really something in Crete to suits every taste and every budget.

Accommodation is usually a 2 story white washed building with blue painted window shutters, typically situated amongst the olive groves, very traditional and usually run by your friendly Greek family.  You can however go for one of the more upmarket hotels which are quickly popping up through out the resorts and experience hotels on all inclusive, with food, drink and entertainment included.

Crete is an island rich in history,  you must visit the amazing remains of Knossos, home to the mythical Minotaur , or maybe visit Chania and Rethymnon, another two places oozing history and Venetian charm, with their beautiful harbours and abundance of shops, bars and restaurants,.

Elounda or Aghios Nikolas, both fishing villages, famous for their fresh fish restaurants and quaint village style resort offering families a relaxing holiday and some beautiful accommodations.

Hersonissos and Sidari are popular villages, with a good selection of water sports and eating out here is easy, with a huge selection of places to eat, from burger bars to A La Carte restaurants and a lovely selection of child friendly bars and tavernas offering karaoke and quizzes etc.  There is also a good selection of all inclusive hotels here, with a full entertainments package thrown in along with all food and drink.

And for the party animals with older kids, there is Malia, famous for its “strip” with more party bars and pubs than you can imagine, a pure party persons paradise. Not to mention the choice of water sports and night-time BBQ on the famous beaches of Malia too.

Crete has two airports, Heraklion serving the resorts along the East coasts and Chania serving the west coast, so the maximum transfers time you may experience is usually no more than an hour, another reason people choose Crete when they have kids, kids wont want to sit on a coach for hours will they??

So for a perfect family holiday on ones of Greece’s perfect islands, with a choice of resorts to pick from, we are sure you will find the holiday of your dreams here in Crete.
