Ipsos & Pyrgi – Corfu

Best for – Couples and families seeking a great many attractions and a lively atmosphere, especially in July and August when this resort really comes alive.

Ipsos and Pyrgi are twin resorts, Pyrgi is mainly where all the hotels and apartments are situated, however are within stumbling distance of the beautiful village of Ipsos, Situated on the north East coast of Corfu and within walking distance to Dassia, another extremely popular resort, especially with English holiday makers. Ipsos is really an area that suits all clientèle regardless of budget or taste due to the options on offer. The accommodation varies from basic 1 star pensions all the way up to 5* luxury hotels.

The beach is Ipsos is a small stretch of sand and shingle gently shelving into the blue crystal waters of the Mediterranean sea, although small, it is perfectly formed!! There is plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and there is a great water sports centre for the more energetic, offering all sorts of activities, jet skiing, para gliding, banana’s and water skiing to name a few. At the south end of Ipsos, there is a working harbour, bringing in the catch of the day, the main area of income when Ipsos was a little fishing village and not a tourist resort as it is now.

Ipsos has a multitude of options for how to spend your evenings. Ipsos can be lively in high season with many bars turning into discos for this part of the season, however you can still enjoy the family bars and cafés that are on offer. Ipsos boats bars and cafés to suit all, they range from laid back to lively, sports bars, karaoke bars, live entertainment, the choice goes on and on. As for places to wine and dine, there is everything from take aways, to snack bars, to traditional plate smashing, all singing all dancing tavernas and top quality restaurants too.

Ipsos is very well places to see more of Corfu, should you so desire. Only a short taxi ride from Corfu Town, where you can take a boat trip to Mouse Island, or explore the many historical sights such as the Byzantine Churches or the monasteries. There is a wonderful marina where you can just sit back, enjoy a spot of lunch or just a coffee and watch the world go by. There is Aqua land, a fantastic water park, perfect for the more adventurous or families and Corfu is huge on deep sea diving, golf, kite surfing and mountain hikes, rides and walks. There is really no reason to stay put, you can explore this Emerald Isle, its simply stunning.
