Transfer Time – 15 minutes

Best For – a great all round resort for all, couples, families and young and lively.

Cala Mayor is probably the oldest resort travelled to by British tourists, located a stones throw from Majorca’s capital of Palma, makes this a perfect all round destination regardless of age, taste or budget. Cala Mayor has been a popular choice of summer destination for many of our royal family too.

The beach in Cala Mayor is a fantastic one, a blue flag awarded beach with white, soft sand and beautiful still, shallow waters, making it a perfect location for those with young children on non swimmers. The beach is wide and un crowded with many sun loungers and parasols for hire, however the beach is a popular one with locals who like to spend their weekends enjoying the sun and sand too. There is a small selection of water sports on offer, with pedallos, canoes and water skiing available during the busier months.

The evenings in Cala Mayor can be spent enjoying a meal in one of the many traditional restaurants and cafés and there is also a good choice of international eateries too, with Indian, Chinese and Italian proving to be firm favourites. There are lots of bars and cocktail bars, with varying evening entertainments on offer, all with a relaxed, family friendly feel to them. Being so close to Palma, you will find an even larger choice of places to wine and dine and off course some amazing shops too, many open until the early hours, perfect during high season when its just too hot to wander round the shops in 40* heat.

Palma, a mere 5 kilometres from Cala Mayor has so many cultural sights to see, and you will find you need more than a day to see them all, choose from the Gothic cathedral, museums, 10th century Moorish baths or take a wander round the many art galleries. Stop for a cool drink and a bite to eat in the wonderful Al Fresco cafés and restaurants situated up and down the cobbled streets. Away from Palma you have a water parks, a great family day out or there is the Palma Aquarium, with over 50 varied aquariums, Mediterranean Gardens and even a jungle to explore. The Caves of Drach have always been a popular day out, taking in a boat trip under the caves and enjoy free time in the Port of Monte Cristo. Families and couples alike will enjoy the Pirate Show, an evening excursion showing acrobats, music, dancing and lots of action, with food and sangria and soft drinks included, an amazing show and lots of fun included.

Cala Mayor is a great vase to see Majorca and its finest sights, and it is also a perfect location to wind down and chill out. What else do you need on your summer break, perfection!!

Transfer Time – 1 Hours 15 minutes

Best For – Couples looking for a relaxing resort, family friendly too.

Cala Bona is a perfect holiday destination for those wishing to bask in the sunshine, or enjoy sitting alongside the harbour and watch the locals working away and watching the world go by. A beautiful resort with stunning scenery and some lovely walks.

The beach in Cala Bona is a selection of small, private coves offering seclusion, peace and quiet, soft golden sand, gently shelving into the Mediterranean. The beaches here are popular with divers and snorkellers, with the rocky coves a perfect location for underwater marine life. The beach is perfect for families too, with the gentle shallow waters, making it a safe environment for children to play. There is also plenty sun loungers and parasols for hire and a selection of beach side cafés, snack bars and restaurants to escape the midday sunshine and have a spot of lunch. Cala Millor is easily reached too for those looking for water sports, it is within walking distance, however, the local buses and taxis offer a cheap alternative.

The evenings in Cala Bona are generally relaxed, a meal overlooking the harbour, eating the fabulous choice of freshly caught fish or beautiful local produce and all washed down with one of the locally produced wines too. There are a good selection of international restaurants too, ranging from Chinese, Italian and Indian, to name but a few. There are a choice of pubs, bars and cocktails bars offering a lovely ambiance and a fairly friendly feel, perfect to round off your evenings. Again, for a livelier evening, Cala Millor is the neighbouring resort, with a much larger selection of cafés, restaurants, bars and even a nightclub or two.

There is a fabulous market, slightly inland from Cala Bona, in Son Servera, many locals even come here for local produce, and is a popular choice for holiday makers to pick up there holiday souvenirs. The resort of Cala Bona is perfectly located to get out and about and see the sights of Majorca. Maybe enjoy a boat trip around the island, enjoying many small coves and villages, only reached by boat, or take a trip to the Caves of Drach, see the amazing stalactites and stalagmites in an underground lake and visit the Port of Monte Cristo on the same trip. There is a fabulous water park nearby too, fun for all the family, young and old. Or take in the historical old town of Alcudia with its winding cobbled streets, museums and historical walls.

There is so much to do in Majorca, but many come to Cala Bona to do absolutely nothing, except enjoy the peace and quiet, lovely beaches and perfect little restaurants on an evening. Perfect things really do come in small packages.

Pomorie – Bulgaria

Transfer Time – 20 minutes

Best For – couples looking for a relaxing resort.

Pomorie is situated on a rocky peninsula, and was originally built in 1902, the surroundings are breathtaking and make for a beautiful setting and an attractive place to take a holiday. Pomorie is definitely a place to be visited even if you decide not to stay here, there is a lake in Pomorie and the mud surrounding the resort, discovered in the 4th century BC, has been used in natural medicine, it is said the minerals in the mud help with bone and muscular disorders, and also sciatica, lumbago, hernias and many other ailments, many people come here for the day just to experience this natural wonder of Bulgaria.

The beaches in Pomorie are wonderful, with soft golden sand and shallow, crystal clear waters make an ideal place to spend you days. The main beach has a small selection of water sports, however larger resorts such as Nessebar and Sunny Beach have a much larger selection and can easily be reached by local buses or very cheap taxis. Its and excellent destination for families too, with the shallow waters being a perfectly safe place for children to play. There are a handful of beach side cafés and snack bars, a perfect place to escape the midday sunshine.

Pomorie is fairly quiet and laid back, but there are a good selection of places to eat out, most of the offering traditional Bulgarian food, produced locally and lovingly prepared for you. All washed down with local wines and beers, and some may even put on a floor show of traditional dance. There are a few cafés and snack bars too, and of course livelier Sunny Beach is only 10 minutes in a taxi, so a much bigger choice is available easily to you too. There are a few bars and pubs, but on the whole it is laid back and relaxed. Nessebar is only 10 minutes by taxi too, so you always have options for a change of scenery.

Pomorie is a great location as a base to explore this beautiful area of Bulgaria. There are many sights and sounds to be had without having to travel for hours and hours. Day trips to the neighbouring resort of Sozopol are always a popular trip, with the famous wooden houses and spectacular scenery, and the beautiful Ropo tamo River. The blue mountains also offer some spectacular sights or take a river cruise down the Blue Danube. You can take a Jeep safari and travel up through the mountains and through some lovely little villages, meet the locals and generally be enthralled by their beautiful country. Many people have enjoyed a day trip to the capital city of Turkey, Istanbul or up to Bulgaria’s capital Sofia with its many historical sights and some amazingly cheap designer shops and boutiques.

Pomorie really is a beautiful destination and we wont be surprised if you book up again for next year!!!
