Best For – Couples and families looking for a lively beach holiday and plenty historical sights too. Sitges is also a popular gay resort during high season.

Sitges is a wonderful resort on the coast of the Costa Dorada, a high class of hotels are situated here, there’s not many less than 4* standards. The resort is a wonderful historical town and is well laid out to explore this lovely place, with winding streets and cobbled roads, old Gothic buildings and historical architecture, it is a wonderful place to experience a ‘real’ Spanish holiday.

Sitges has 17 wonderful beaches located around the main resort, many of them are blue flag awarded beaches and some are beautiful, private coves. The main beach is located near the old town and has a lovely family atmosphere, with gently shelving, golden sand and shallow, safe waters, perfect for the little ones to play in. The beach feels uncrowded, even during high season, with plenty sun loungers and parasols for hire, a good selection of cafes and restaurant for lunch and a cool drink, and for the more energetic, there’s a great choice of water sports available too. Many enjoy the wonderful walks around here or hire a mountain bike to see the countryside nearby.

Night-life in Sitges has everything you could want and more. From bars, cafés, night clubs and cocktail bars, some family orientated, some gay, some straight, the choice is huge. Sitges has some wonderful places for a romantic meal, especially on the coast, looking out to sea, watching the sunset and all washed down with the local wine, just perfect. There’s many international themed restaurants, as well as cafés, snack bars and take aways, there is really no reason to go hungry here.

Sitges is perfectly located to explore this wonderful part of Spain, if you can bear to leave this little piece of heaven. Only 40 kilometres from Barcelona, where you can shops til you drop, the culture vultures will love the historical sights and of course the places to wine and dine are endless, many also come to Barcelona to see the Nou Camp football Stadium too. Costa Dorada has many family orientated excursions too, like Europe’s largest theme park, Port Aventura, with rides and thrills for all the family and there’s plenty water parks to visit too. Costa Dorada has something for everyone, its no wonder that people return here year after year!!
