Playa de Fornells – Menorca

Playa de Fornells is a relatively new resort to the British holiday scene, situated on the north coast of the island, it is a stunning resort, very scenic and has lots of attractions for a perfect holiday in the sun, and with flight of just over 2 hours, you can be there a lot sooner then you think.

Days are varied with many activities in resort, cycling along the flat coastline is very popular and a great way to find hidden coves and seeing the wonderful scenery, however should you not wish to peddle, you could always do the same on horseback, a very popular few hours, especially for families. However, most spend their days relaxing on one of the 3 main beaches which serve this area, the main beach is wonderful, with soft golden sand, gently shelving into crystal clear waters and offering a safe environment for children to play, the water is warm and shallow. For the more energetic, there are plenty water sports for hire, from canoes, pedalloes, to jet skis and paragliding. There is a fantastic diving centre in Playa De Fornells and offer tuition for adults and children and will take you on some amazing dives and wrecks. Or if you don’t fancy the diving, you could always see if through a glass bottomed boat trip, perfect around these areas due to the clarity of the water, just perfect for the little ones.

Evenings in Playa De Fornells are mainly spent enjoying a wonderful meal in the traditional and internationally themed restaurants scattered throughout the village, many open air and offering wonderful Al Fresco dining opportunities. The bars, cafés and even one disco, offer family friendly evenings with a few even offering a variety of evening entertainment. For something different, why not take a taxi into Son Parc or Arenal D’en Castell where the choice is a bit larger. Shopping is a popular way to pass some time during the evening, once the temperatures have dropped and there are plenty shops and souvenir stalls to pick up a bargain.

Playa De Fornells is well located for exploring the island, obvious choice would be to take a boat trip around the island, discovering hidden coves and visiting some wonderful resorts too. Most must take a trip into Ciudadella, a shop-o-holics paradise, there are so many shops, boutiques and souvenir stalls and a wonderful harbour to sit out of the sun and enjoy a cool drink. Mahon, the islands capital is a great place to see too, with its own medieval fortress, winding streets and a great choice of places to wine, dine and shop. There is two water parks on Menorca, offering fun for all the families, young or young at heart. Menorca has it all, be sure to get out and about and explore this little piece of heaven.
