Cala D’or is a purpose built resort, however has been built in the most dramatic of settings, with stunning pine fringed headlands and stunning beaches, a marina and a harbour and with a fabulous pedestrianised town centre, it ticks all the boxes for a great summer holiday. Cala D’or is located in the south east of the island and is within easy reach of other beautiful resorts too.

The beaches in Cala D’or are a selection of small coves perfect for snorkelling and then there is Cala Llonga beach, which is a beautiful 2 miles stretch of soft white sand, gently shelving into the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean. This is the families favourite beach with still, shallow waters, making it ideal for young kiddies to play on and non swimmers to take a paddle. There are plenty water sports from pedalloes to jet skiing and even diving and para gliding, Cala Dd’or has it all. All beaches have sun loungers and parasols for hire and most remain un crowded, even during high season. Many people enjoy the yacht club which makes Cala D’or famous and is a perfect place to sip a cool drink and watch the world go by.

Evenings is Cala D’or can be lively, especially along the harbour-side, with a great selection of bars, cafés, cocktails bars and even a coup[le of nightclubs, but on the whole the pedestrianised village has many family friendly bars offering a variety of evening entertainments and activities. Cala D’or has many restaurants, traditional and international and fresh fish is amazing, caught that day and lovingly prepared for you, all washed down with locally produced wine too. There is also many snack bars, cafés and take aways, so there’s really no reason to go hungry. There are plenty boutiques, shops and souvenir stalls to wander round too, and most are open til late every evening.

Cala D’or is in a great location for exploring this beautiful island, most people who travel here hire a yacht with or with out crew and explore the amazing coves and beaches in Majorca. If you are young or young at heart, there are a couple of water parks with amazing slides and splash pools etc., there’ses also Marine Land where they have dolphin shows, sea lion showing and other fabulous acts to entertain all. The Caves of Drach are a must see, take a boat trip on an underground lake, seeing the breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites and they have a few hours in the wonderful town of Porto Cristo. Majorca has many, many wonderful things to see and do, perfect for all ages and budgets, its no wonder, people return here year after year.
