San Miguel – Ibiza

Transfer Time – 25 minutes

Best For – Couples and families looking to get away from it all

San Miguel is situated on the north coast of Ibiza, and has got to be one of the most beautiful areas with stunning scenery. Picture this, pine clad hillside, little white buildings scattered in between and a fabulous horse shoe bay, turquoise sea and only a couple of hotels, and you have pictured San Miguel. There is a charming village and locals bend over backwards to ensure your stay is as perfect as the location.

The beach has definitely got to be one of the best on the island, a horse show bay, sheltered buy the hillside, soft golden sands and warm, shallow waters make this area perfect for families with young children who want to play along the waters edge whilst you relax on the many sun loungers and hire a parasol to shade you from the midday sun. There are a few water sports, mainly diving and snorkelling, however Portinatx is not too far away and there is a much larger choice there. There are a couple of beach bars offering a snack menu and refreshing drinks too.

Evenings in San Miguel are perfect if you want a nice romantic meal, washed down with the local wine and watch the sunsets that made Ibiza famous. There is a great selection of open air restaurants and a handful of bars, but on the whole the evenings are laid back and relaxed. Children are welcomed in all bars and restaurants and the hotels also allow you to book a table for a change of scene. Take a trip into the nearby larger resorts of San Antonio or Portinatx for a livelier night-life, easily reached by taxi or local bus.

San Miguel is perfectly positioned for getting out and exploring the island of Ibiza, if you can bear to leave this little piece of heaven!! We’d recommend an excursion to the island’s capital of Ibiza Town, perfect for those culture vultures, with its medieval castle and old winding streets, museums and old buildings, and there is also many beautiful shops, boutiques and souvenir stalls and many places to wine and dine, makes for a great day out. There are 2 fantastic water parks in Ibiza with masses of slides, chutes and water attractions. The island is famous for its sunsets and boats trips…..why not combine both, watch the glorious sunset whilst sipping wine and enjoy fine food on a glass bottomed boat, a great way of seeing the island too. For those who love a bargain, don’t forget to take a trip to Es Cana and visit the local hippy market, every Wednesday the locals set up stalls and you can pick up some amazing bargains from designer clothing to leather handbags, the hippy market has it all.
